OMA IMPS (Previously Wireless Village)

چکیده
Instant messaging and presence-systems have long been popular in the “fixed” Internet world with tens of millions of PC users. The success has come despite the heterogeneous environment of multiple incompatible IM systems. In the mobile domain, however, instant messaging and presence is a relatively young thing. Hoping to avoid fragmentation in mobile IM and presence, Wireless Village was formed by key industry players to define a standard system for mobile IM and presence. The purpose of this paper is to introduce the Wireless Village initiative currently residing in the Open Mobile Alliance (OMA), it’s overall architecture, protocols and real life usage.

OMA DM v1.x compliant lightweight device management for constrained M2M devices
Open Mobile Alliance Device Management (OMA DM) specification is well established and is being widely used to manage mobile devices. However, the current OMA DM protocol (v1.2 and v1.3) is not suitable for constrained M2M devices operating in constrained networks. Therefore, new standards for M2M technology are being developed in order to sustain the exponential growth of M2M wireless communica...
متن کاملRethinking Mobile Telephony With the IMP
The recent widespread deployment of wireless LAN technology raises the question of how a mobile telephony system might instead be architected to use wireless LAN access points and the Internet to achieve similar services. In this paper, we examine an end-to-end architecture for mobile telephony, with a strong focus on endpoint issues. We have designed, implemented, and have experience using dev...
متن کاملWireless Internet Service Development
The new wireless technologies for telecommunications networks and devices will enable new kinds of mobile services [7] and create enormous business opportunities [2]. Effective use of these business opportunities requires cooperation with other companies and using applications developed by third parties. The teleoperators today have a dominant position across all markets, and third parties can ...
متن کاملA Novel Method for Improving Fairness over Multiaccess Channels
It is known that the orthogonal multiple access (OMA) guarantees for homogeneous networks, where all users have almost the same received power, a higher degree of fairness (in rate) than that provided by successive interference cancellation (SIC). The situation changes in heterogeneous networks, where the received powers are very disparate, and SIC becomes superior to OMA. In this paper, we pro...
متن کاملDeployment of software components: Application to Wireless System
The wide variety of wireless devices brings to design mobile applications as a collection of interchangeable software components adapted to the deployment environment of the software. To ensure the proper functioning of the software assembly and make a real enforcement in case of failures, the introduction of concepts, models and tools necessary for the administration of these components is cru...
